Fatty acid methyl esters are produced by a catalyzed reaction between fats or fatty acids and methanol.
FAME characteristics include high boiling points, good lubricity and excellent solubility in organic solvents. Fatty acid methyl esters are versatile products covering a wide range of product uses including: lubricants, metalworking fluids, solvents, fuels, agriculture, surfactants, polymers, coatings and plasticizers.
In solvent applications, they are known as green solvents because fatty acid methyl esters are biodegradable, produce low volatile components (VOCs), and are non-toxic to humans.
In addition to SME and RME, we also offer methyl esters based on castor, linseed, palm oil and tallow. Methyl esters of other vegetable or fat base can also be manufactured at our facility.
